So, I want one of these on my team. Can't decide which one. Victini is only good if he has some event only moves (i.e. V-Create, Fusion Bolt), but has great typing and could be really good. Mew is mew. Ugh, tough!

Any thoughts?

inb4: Smogon movesets, team roles.

Well of course you'll need movesets and team roles. They help.

I recommend a Victini of Mew, mainly because of the typing.

If I were to use Victini, I'd use him as a physical attacker:
V-create
Fusion bolt
U-turn
Zen headbutt

For Mew, I'd go more along the special attack route with baton pass:
Nasty plot
Baton pass
Aura sphere
Psychic

I think, but I don't know.

Well, Mew has a lot of variety and can just be unexpecting. It also has less weaknesses. Personally I'd chose Mew over Victini.

All in all, it really depends on what you're looking for.
A Physical attacker or a Special one.

Both are Psychic whereas Victini is also a Fire type, which I consider a bonus xD
Depends on what you want.

Fire Type have a lot of common weaknesses. Ground and Rock mainly, but Victini has some decent bulk with 100 defense stats. I usually make my Victinis Physical.

you cant compare their bulk/offensive stats since they have have equal base stats. but i know what you meant xD

Victini is better offensively. No doubt about it, dual typing means dual stabs, and with a 180 base power move available to you (270 after stab) victini is the clear choice, offensively. Flame charge victini is vicious.

However there are arguments for mew as well, seeing as it has the 2nd largest movepool IN THE GAME. The options for mew are almost endless. It can function well offensively, defensively, utility, supporting and pretty much anything under the sun.

So it really depends on what your team needs.

Mew. My only legendary on emerald, and caught at faraway island.

Then what's the first? Smeargle? Because I thought the moves Smeargle learned through Sketch didn't count...
