Ash gets annoying

Am i the only one who, especially with the new series, finds it increasingly annoying that ash seems to know nothing about pokemon? He makes basic errors all the time, and his pikachu seems to have got about 50 times weaker.. is it just me that has noticed this? Plus he just seems like such a rookie and gets abused by people all the time.. he has won 32 badges previously, and has done decently in pokemon leagues, but is still surprised when he finds out about the Unova region having its own pokemon league.

Basically, he is annoying me (Ive probably forgot stuff too).

Does he annoy you too? Why? Or, why not, as the case may be?

To be honest, he's always annoyed me, it's only in the recent series that it's really started to get amazingly annoying. And what's going to happen at the end of this series? Ash enters the league, finally beats his rival (whoever it is - I haven't been paying attention), and then gets pwned in the semi-final, as usual. Why does this happen every single time!? He knows that he can call on any of his Pokemon from home to come and help him, so why doesn't he ever call on any good ones!? What would I do? Simple! My team would be Charizard and 5 of the 30 Tauros he caught in the Safari Zone! -_-

I find it weird and annoying that ash got alot of badges and stuff but still acts like a newbie that doesn't know anything.

I don't really watch the new series. I keep forgetting, and I have to wake up early-ish to watch it.

But in general, I say this. Every time Ash goes to a new region, he runs into a pole, and resorts back to the same old 10-year old noob he started off as.

Or, he's just static. A static NOOB. :/

EDIT: I voted for not at all, because he's not getting annoying, he started off like that.

In his final battle with Paul, Ash's Pikachu surprised Paul by it's speed and power (see final episode). It's Quick Attack had the same power as Electivire's T-punch. Just now it's pathetic, yeah it does get annoying.

Plus it KO'd a Latios pretty much on its own...*geez*

Maybe in the Mewtwo 1st movie, being "turned to stone" took a gap of his life, lol.

Though, if you all look at it, when Ash is "surprised" about the Unova region having its own league, it's pretty much aiming it at kids who are of that age group (10-11-12) rather than us seasoned players (15+).

...But that doesn't mean it doesn't annoy me. Oh yes, I remember when Pikachu got owned by a Magikarp. XD Hilarious! Also, shouldn't Pikachu be like level infinity by now? D: How did he get pwn'd by a SNIVY?

I really think they should have had new characters each season. :/
Maybe Ash, Brock, and Misty could have stuck around through Johto. He gets sooo annoying. They all kind of do. Their characters and the whole show has gotten so different. Its not funny anymore, they're not funny anymore. They're dumb.
*_* I wish they'd use the same characters in the show as in the video games.~

I like brock sticking around, he's the token black guy.

However i didn't know that misty is still around.

None of the characters were ever annoying, and they never will be.
At least in my eyes. =P

Ash is no exception. It just wouldn't be the same without him. I mean that in a bad way.

i think the theory is that he needs to stay a n00b, because people who watch the story change almost as frequently as the generations of pokemon do. to us experienced people it is annoying, but think about it from the standpoint of the predominant members of Pokemon audience. They are mostly younger kids who don't know what pokemon is. Ash being naive is supposed to mirror that part of the audience that is just getting started with pokemon. granted, i agree with previous posts. if they are going to do this, they should probably start off with a new trainer in each reigon. however, that means they would have to get rid of the signature Pikachu, which really is what defines the anime a lot more than ash at this point.

I have to agree. I realize that the target audience is younger kids 8-12 years old, but did Nintendo really think that us veteran players wouldn't see the pattern with Ash, Pikachu, or Anybody for that matter, and ask ourselves: "Why don't they ever age??"

Ash went from being asked to be a frontier brain, to nearly winning the Sinnoh league, to being a clueless 10 year old once again in a new region.

Like Galdr said, Pikachu should be like level infinity by now, but he seems to drop back down to level 1 with each new region.

Another thing I don't particularly like about Ash is that he gets so emotional. I can understand being emotional to an extent, but with him it's over the top. A good example is the Lucario and the Mystery of Mew movie.

I'm putting the example in a spoiler in case you haven't seen it and don't want it spoiled for you before you watch it.


I also think Team Rocket should appear a little less often. Maybe every few episodes or so. Not every episode. I'm pretty sure people have noticed that in the vast majority of new episodes, Team Rocket or another team (Galatic, Plasma, etc.) ALWAYS appears.

Despite all that, I'm not all that annoyed by Ash. Mainly just when he gets over emotional over things. Maybe it's because he has a Pikachu ^^ xD

I think Ash has many annoying moments. However, I also think that's a part of his character. And he can be pretty amusing - sometimes his stupidity makes me laugh. Like how his #1 solution is to try hitting/smashing/running into things. That always makes me laugh.

I think he's got some good points, too, like how he's always there for his friends, and how he won't give up on you, even if he doesn't know you. So I voted 50-50. :3
