Prologue: Home Sure Seems Like Hell

Hell. All that Chief wanted to describe it as. Blue, his partner, and himself had just dealt with a Covenant Battle Cruiser over one of the USNC's outposts. They boarded it, along with a group of Marines. The ship got nasty at a few points, like Hunters in small corridors, hard to dodge. The only reason they had probally gotten through alive was because of Cortana had given them routes through out the ship, advoiding major Covenant life signals, as they didn't want to risk their whole invasion party getting sucked into the lifeless vaccum of space. After that, they were ordered to Reach for a surprise.

Covenant.

They had been landing in in the aftermath of some huge fight, crashed USNC ship, a Covenant spire taken down, and 2 more in the backround. The scene was bare otherwise, dry pale land, canyons, and of course Hell. Their first objective? Take down those other 2 spires.

"Give em' hell Spartans!"

Chapter 1: Disrupting a Main Generator? Sounds Fun.

"We're almost there, drop off is outside the shield, it'll wreck us otherwise, hopefully we won't get shot down." one of the USNC's numerous pilots said, piloting down a Falcon, in the middle of the current war zone. Other USNC forces were trying to fight their way into the spire themselves, getting faced head on with Covenant, and their numerous tools of war, Banshees bombarding, Wraith tanks sending out bombardments... Once through the shield, the USNC would be destroyed, none of their technology, besides their guns, would work.

Supposedly Chief and Blue were supposed to go in, and disrupt the main generator long enough so that USNC forces could get in with their Scorpions and other such things. There wasn't time to waste either, Covenant were also approaching on on their location from the East.

Soon enough the Falcon landed on a rough, rocky ledge in the canyon between the already taken down spire, and the next spire. The pilot saluted them off, and took off leaving Chief, Blue, and Cortana, who was in Chief's helmet, alone. "...The generator's control panel should be on the top of the spire, we're not breaking it, just disrupting it. We're using the shield as a base out in the field, the Marines are going to rewire it, working it backwards against them. Their cruiser will be slow enough so that a team can bombard it's engines, if we take down that other one in time, so they can't send them down safely." Cortana informed, getting a nod from Chief, and a "Okay" from Blue.

The path up from the canyon was narrow, and unstable at parts, a handful of times either one of the Spartans stood on crumbling rock, breaking under their feet, though due to their training, death was easily advoided. Though Cortana had a few laughs, calling Chief lucky, and such.

The top of the canyon lead them past the main conflict, room enough to sneak in, without getting seen, by a lot of Covenant. The path they were navigating had tall sand dunes, apparently the canyon lead from a rocky-barren land into a desert. "Great, we get to deal with suicidal Grunts hiding in the dunes..." Blue commented, leaving Chief to give out a small chuckle in responce.

The path was, safe, enough, one suicidal Grunt, which Blue remarked as a "Landmine" Cortana laughed at that, saying something extremely techinical about landmines, and such. Soon enough the land curved downwards, into a dark, stoney path. And above? The massive spire. It seemed safe, enough, though there probally were Spec. Ops Elites, with active camo. "Maybe that dead Grunt can help us... Wait one second." Chief quietly said, taking the dead Grunt that he had been carying, over a bit. He set it down, put a Fragmention Gernade in it's Methane Tank, sitting it down so that it would lunge forwards, as if running. The tank exploded, sending the Grunt flying forwards enough to distract the Spec. Ops, giving the Spartans a clear path up, and so they did.

"...This drop, should lift us up, anti-gravity sort off technology. Hurry though, we don't have much time to make theories about it." Cortana quickly said, leading them to jump into the tube. Chief jumped in first, ahead of Blue already because Cortana needed to quickly inspect it. Blue jumped in after, blazing upwards in a flash of blue light. Up at the top were a few Grunts and Jackals, looking down at the Spec. Ops' coomotion. Blue flashed a smile under his visor, throwing a gernade at the group, sending them flying off.

Chief walked over to the generator's control panel, "Hit the-" Cortana started just to be interrupted by Chief's fist smashing into the panel, just to deactivate the shield.
