HG/SS gymleaders
This is the complete guide to what each gym leader in HG/SS have in their first match and rematch! Will be posted in parts!

First up is Falkner!

Town: Violet City
Badge: Zephyr Badge
Rewards: TM51 Roost and the Ability to use HM06 Rock Smash outside of battle
Requirements: To have beaten the Elder of the Sprout Tower

Now an easy way to beat Falkner is with an Eletric pokemon. We all know that in Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal, this was impossible with out trade. But not any more, the developers of the game thought they should add a new area of grass just above the man who gives you mirical seed for you to catch Mareep in. Also, if you're a rock type kind of person, just catch a Bellsprout (Train up to at least level 13) and trade for the Onix in one of the houses.
Second is Bugsy!

Town: Azalea Town
Badge: Hive badge
Rewards: TM89 U-Turn and Ability to use HM01 Cut outside of battle.
Requirements: To have gotten rid of all Team Rocket in Slowpoke Well.

Now Bugsy being a Bug type gymleader is a really Easy, his Metapod and Kakuna are easily taken care of form a powerful fire type attack such as an Ember from a Quilava. His last pokemon Scyther is the hardest one. It has a good attack range with quick attack meaning he will go first. U-turn is no worry unless he uses Scyther second and sends out his last Bug type pokemon (Metapod or Kakuna) and then switch in to Scyther again to carry on Quick attacking and U-turning you. Just a few hits from an Ember or maybe a flying type move such as gust from a Pidgeotto and Bugsy will be down in no time!
Third is Whitney!

Town: Goldenrod City
Badge: Plain Badge
Rewards: TM45 Attract and ability to use HM04 Strength outside of battle
Requirements: To have gotten the Radio Card for the PokeGear, then talk to Whitney in Goldenrod Radio Tower and she will run to the gym.

Whitney is a Normal type so maybe a Machop or somehting with Fighting type moves will bring her down easily. But you can't get a Machop before the third gym, so where will you get one with out trade? Easy, catch a Drowsee (Train to atleast Level 20) and go to the TM/HM section of the Pokemart (If I'm not mistaken) and trade the Drowsee with this guy who has a Machop! And then you verse Whitney, once you get around the gym of course, and Her clefairy is easily taken care of, it's Miltank that concerns people, as it has a High defence/Special Defence or whatever and takes awile for any hits to do major damage. Ofcourse with Machop a low kick may do up to half damage on it. Also it has Milk drink which annoys loads of people because everytime you are about top win, Miltank uses Milk Drink and gets most of it's HP back. Just keep hitting with fighting types and you will win eventually.

Hey, Just wanted to tell you
Remember to tell people where to find them or how you get itno the gym

I.e Whitney, you must go to the radio tower and answer the quiz game they have (Answers to quiz here)
Or Falkner: Beat the bellsprout tower, and the gym will become available

IT'S A TRAP!!

Um, I have something minor to say. In GSC, it wasn't impossible to get an electric-type before facing Falkner, I caught a Mareep on that same route you were talking about multiple times back then.
