Actually the faster way is having a Pokemon with Flame Body in your party.

Yeah it's Hoenn and Firered/leafgreen don't think that was out yet.

Flame Body was out since 3rd Gen. It was possible with Slugma and Macargo.

Does riding your bike actually help? I thought it is time based.

Yeah, it just speeds up the process. Doesn't lower the steps to hatch it or anything.

Bicycle speeds it up, Flame Body cuts the number of steps in half.

So the pair is a common and fast way to hatch eggs.

Riding the bicycle is all you pretty much can do though. Riding the Mach Bike from Mauville City to Verdanturf Town in that straight line that cuts through Route 110 (I think, where the daycare is) is a perfect place to hatch eggs in RSE. However in FRLG, there are many places that serve a good bicycling. For one, the Bike lane from Celadon to Fuschia is good, so you'll be going downhill. Saffron City is a big, open space for hatching with nobody in the way, sans biking through the middle where the Silph Scope building is.

Flame Body and Magma Armor abilities don't take effect until Emerald version and up. RSFRLG don't have access to that yet, so Biking us the only way.

Aside from that, cool advice xoryd. We're here to help you. Eggs appearing in the daycare happen by how many steps you take. An estimation of 256 steps for an egg to appear. But I think that's for which egg group is good/neutral/bad with another.
