RE: Just Another Love Story...Right?[PG-13][Pokemon]
Chapter 5
Darkness
Hira flipped over onto her side, gripping her blanket tightly, before groaning. Sweat dripped down her face as she tossed and turned.
Dark, menacing, black clouds clustered above, hiding the deep blue of the sky above, as she ran, through pouring and pounding rain, her heart thumping against her chest, threatening to burst out, to escape. Her breaths came in, short and ragged, her lungs sucking in air as her paws pounded against the soaked ground. She stumbled, slightly, as the darkness began her surged forward, trying to swallow her. She glanced back, noticing a pair of sicky-blue orbs, seemingly staring at her.
She shivered and ran on, before spotting a bloodied heap on the ground, black and red, blood in a puddle. Her eyes widened as she realized it was Jake. She slowed down, gathering him up into her arms, tears dropping down from her eyes and onto the ground. "J-Jake?" She asked, quietly, shaking him gently. No response. She began to sob, when she noticed a small tendril of darkness slowly beginning to wrap around her leg. She nearly screamed, and as she went to move, the dark tendril grabbed ahold of her leg. Suddenly, she was plunged into the darkness.
She sat up, breathing heavily, sweating even more, her eyes wild as she grabbed her chest, trying to calm her beating chest. She breathed in deeply, trying to calm herself before swiping sweat away from her forehead. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, standing up. As quietly as she could, she opened the door, and closed it, before making her way down the hall. Her paws made no sounds as she walked down the long halls, her eyes scanning the walls. Why does this have to be such a big place? She silently asked herself, walking down a flight of stairs. All she wanted to do was go for a walk.
"Going somewhere?"
She paused, looking behind her, spotting Lugia. She blushed as he lowered his head and looked at her. "Is something wrong?" He asked, quietly. She quickly shook her head. Too quickly, she realized. Lugia smiled lightly, knowing that she was lying. "I'm just going to go for a walk," she said, "to clear my head." He raised his own head, looking down at her. "I, erm, had a, um...I had a nightmare," she confessed. Lugia smiled, victorious, before circling around her and walking off. "Wait, um, Lugia, sir, can I talk to you about the nightmare?" She asked, as he stopped and looked back at her. "Of course."
The night air was cool, but a warm breeze blew past. Lugia walked along, Hira sitting on his back, solemnly. "What is it that you wished to talk to me about?" Lugia asked, as Hira looked up. "The nightmare. It was...strange. I've had nightmares before, but nothing like...like that," she said, shivering. He looked back at her, concerned. "I was running through a field, and there was an...and endless blackness chasing me, and I swear that I saw two sickly-blue eyes.
"But the, I found Jake in the nightmare, and he was bloody, and I tried getting him to wake up, but he wasn'y responding to me. Then, the darkness swallowed me...," she said, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "That wasn't a normal nightmare. Two sickly-blue eyes? That's the colors of Darkrai's eyes. He gave you that nightmare, for whatever reason," Lugia said, looking ahead as Hira frowned. "Are...are you sure?" She asked. He nodded. "I have a strong feeling that it was him.
Morning came all too soon. Hira leaned against the wall, beside the door, right outside of the Capital building. She yawned slightly, her eyes watering. She hadn't gotten much sleep, but she shrugged it off. The automatic door of the building slid open, and Jake stepped out. He looked up at her, just as she looked down at him, and she grinned. "Mornin' sunshine." He frowned at her, and she stood up straight, stretching.
"I couldn't find you inside when I woke up," Jake said, tilting his head to the side. "Oh, I woke up a bit earlier and came out here for some fresh air. What? Something wrong with that?" She asked, bending down, her nose touching his. He laughed nervously, backing away and shaking his head. "No, no, of course not! That's perfectly fine. Perfectly fine!" He said, as she stood back up. "That's what I thought. Come on. There's supposed to be a restaurant that has good food, so I thought that we'd go," she said, similing. "Yeah. I am kinda hungry..."
It didn't take them long at all to reach the restaurant. It was a more rural looking place, built of wood, with a red roof. A new sign swung back and forth, saying Mon De Food, which Hira really didn't understand...She shrugged, pushing open the door and waiting until Jake trotted inside to close it.
The inside of the restaurant had a sense of old to it. A wooden counter, painted red, was just ahead. Wooden seats surrounded them, from their left, to their right. Even the floor was wood. Hira walked forward, as Jake trotted beside her, to the counter. The Gardevoir stand there smiled and handed Hira a menu, as well as Jake. They took them, muttered a thanks, and went to the sit down.
Hira looked through the menu, nearly drooling. They had so many good looking items...A waiter came up to there table, just as Hira decided on what she wanted. "Your orders?" The Croconaw asked, as Hira smiled. "An Oran smoothie for me," she said. The Croconaw looked towards Jake, who said, "A Pecha smoothie please." The Croconaw nodded, walking off as Hira leaned backwards in the chair and closed her eyes, Feeling Jake's gaze on her, she opened an eye. "What? Can't a girl relax?" He blushed and looked away. Just then, the Croconaw returned, seeting down their smoothies infront of them. As he walked off, Hira mumbled, "That was fast," before sipping her smoothie.
They drank their smoothies in silence, before Jake paused as he finished the last of his, looking at Hira. "Hey, you seem a bit agitated today," he said, as she looked up at him. "I...I am. I had a bad nightmare last night. That's all. Don't worry about it," she said, smiling gently at him as the waiter came back to collect their cups. She yawned slightly, stretching her arms out as Jake looked at her. "Sorry, I woke up in the middle of the night because I got hungry," she said, lying, before standing up.
Jake jumped down from his seat and trotted with Hira as she exited the restaurant, yawning again. Suddenly she felt so tired that she could just drop. She paused, just outside of the door, her fur standing on end, as did Jake's. He growled, and before she could register it, Darkrai was floating there, infront of her. "Ah, Hira," he said, his voice cheery. "I finally found you! Lugia told me you'd be here. So, you had a nightmare, correct?" He asked. Jake looked at Hira, stunned, as she looked Darkrai in the eyes, struggling to swallow past the knot in her throat. "Y-yeah. Why?"
Darkrai nodded to himself, grabbing ahold of her paw. "Tell me what happened in it," he said, as Hira pulled her paw back and out of his grasp. "...I'll tell you the same thing I told Lugia. I was running across a field, some type of darkness chasing me, and I swear that I spotted to sickly-blue orbs in it. I found Jake, and tried to get him to wake up, but he was so bloody...Then, then darkness pulled me in, and the dream ended," she said, folding her arms as Darkrai grunted.
"If you're thinking that I gave you that nightmare, you're sorely mistaken. I've been busy spying on the Eastern Empire. Their still trying to find replacements for all the guards you took out, so it'll be some time before they attack. I'm sorry, I must go report to Lugia. It was good seeing you two again." With that he was off. Hira, closed her eyes, thinking, before shaking her head, as Jake watched.
"What was that about?" Jake asked, frowning. "And why hadn't you told me about th-"
"Because I didn't want you to worry."
Hira looked down at him, a sad smile on her face. Jake suddenly felt somewhat guility. "Sorry," he said, quietly. "It's okay. Come on, let's head back and talk with Lugia about the battle plans, eh?" Hira said, walking down the street towards the capital building.
Jake trotted beside her, looking down at the ground as it passed under him. "I was dead in your dream, wasn't I."
It wasn't a question.
Hira looked away, muttering a quiet "Yes", before looking back down at him. Jake smiled sadly. "Thanks for telling me."
"Frieza, you've used us as pawns for too long! You'll die, by my hand!"
