He is a clone a science experiment. He was created not born so should he not be a Pokemon?

RE: Should Mewtwo even be called a Pokemon?
Yes, because he's not a Human.
*shot*
But he was cloned from a Pokemon, thus making him a Pokemon, even if he is a clone. :T

Technically in Gen I, Red and Blue I think, it says that Mewtwo was born. But that's just splitting hairs.

RE: Should Mewtwo even be called a Pokemon?
The word "Pokemon" does indeed mean Pocket Monsters, which doesn't say that they have to be born.
They are monsters, therefore, you can do almost anything with them without messing with the "rules", this involves making pokemon, or even cloning them ; )
So yes, Mewtwo should be called a "Pocket Monster" because it IS a pocket monster.

RE: Should Mewtwo even be called a Pokemon?
Mewtwo was cloned and perfectioned by the humans by using mew who is a legit Pokemon so that makes him a pokemon. Actually the God of Pokemons, that's what he is for me ^^

RE: Should Mewtwo even be called a Pokemon?
One more fact: Arceus is "god of all Pokemon". And thus, it did not create the artificial Pokemon, in my opinion. But anyway, Mewtwo's cloned from a real Pokemon, so it is a Pokemon too. So I think it counts as a real one no matter what; if it can be captured by a Pokeball, then it's a Pokemon.

Mewtwo looked like a pimp in his metal armour in the first movie but like Galdr said it's still a pokemon because you can catch it, oh and good luck catching Mewtwo in a Pokéball Galdr. XD

I see no reason as to why he can't be a Pokemon. If that is the case, many legendary Pokemon such as Deoxys shouldn't be Pokemon either. As well as inanimate objects like Litwick, seeing as how they were never "birthed."

I see where you're coming from but like others have said, still there's still Pokemon genes, even if a clone, I can see why they went with the Pokemon label. Plus, it's a fictional world after all, I mean I highly doubt Pikachu could actually chill outside the Pokeball that long...

Never stopped and thought about this before though.

I think mewtwo has a more defined personality than most pokemon, but he's genetically one. I vote yes

He's definately a Pokemon. However is Ambertwo a pokemon? (She was a little girl whose father agreed to help clone mewtwo in exchange for being able too use the cloning technology to clone his dead daughter, Amber, who was also exposed to mews genes and who had some basic psychic powers.)

Was she cloned with pokemon genes too? I'd think she'd be human otherwise

Not really. Pokemon are not completely evil, so Mewtwo doesn't fit the description.

Well Yes to Q1, and no to Q2: see she was supposed to just be a clone, but when they tried that it failed as the body decomposed, so by combining her DNA with some of Mews, she was able to stabilize, as well as regaining her former memories, and some of mews power.

RE: Should Mewtwo even be called a Pokemon?
Aren't Genesect and Mewtwo basically the same? They were both modified by a crime orginazation to have the ultimate pokemon, and both times, they were stopped.

Mewtwo is way cooler than Genesect though. Mewtwo don't need a plasma cannon on his back to be a pimp.
